Merchant
Trade increased rapidly in the 14th and 15th centuries (1300s-1400s CE). The Crusades exposed Europeans to foreign goods. The Plague reduced the population so that there was more money to go around. Merchants were busy traveling back and forth from the East to trade silks, cloths, and glass.
As a merchant, you will be busy using maps, graphs, timelines, and charts. You will need to stay focused and determined in order to complete your quest! Remember, if you complete ALL of your assignments as a merchant, you can move up to become a squire and earn at least a C on your class work and project grades.
Your duties as a merchant:
1) Examine the map on the bottom of this page. On your blank map of Europe and Asia, draw in pencil the Silk Road which Marco Polo traveled. Make sure that you are being accurate by using the Steps for Labeling a Blank Map.
A) Examine the map.
B) Find similar shapes.
C) Label the map.
D) Create a key.
2) Examine the French Population Graph and answer the comprehension questions to learn about the effects of the Black Plague.
3) Place the important Medieval dates on the timeline. (Use the dates fro the beginning of the Peasant Power Point)
4) Complete the "Effects of the Crusades" bubble chart.
When you are done:
1) Flip Your Cup so the High Queen can come over and give you a stamp.
2) Move on to the Squire assignment!
